The historical roots of the RCNPP date back to 1959, when a group of residents of Port de Pollensa began the process of setting up the Club Nàutic Port de Pollença.
Two years later, on 23 April 1961, at a General Assembly chaired by Mr. Francisco Javier Marichalar y Bruguera, Marquess of Ciria, the Club was formally established with 25 members and the procedures to start work were initiated. The first stone was laid on 14 August 1961.
Just over 27 years later, major expansion and modernisation work took place over a period of twelve months.
In January 1993, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I granted the Royal title to this Yacht Club.
From the very beginnings of the RCNPP, canoeing, fishing, diving, dinghy sailing and yacht racing have been well-established activities. The RCNPP is associated with the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, the Balearic Sailing Federation and the Association of Nautical Clubs of the Balearic Islands.
In addition to regattas and the Sailing and Canoeing Schools, every year the club organises other sports and social activities that are very popular, such as the social outings for mahi-mahi fishing.
Completely modernised, the RCNPP celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011.
In 2018, work began on the adaptation project, which consists of four phases in which the marina's jetties, the outside dock, the waiting dock and the breakwater promenade, and the marine and sailing school building will be renovated.
